It consists of an exact gold reproduction of the old golden florin, the coin first minted in Italy by the Florentine Republic in 1252, and a certificate. The award was established in 1995 by the Center for Microwave Remote Sensing.<\/p>\n<p>The prize is awarded every second year during the MicroRad Specialist Meeting to individuals, who, throughout their career, made outstanding contributions to research in <strong>Passive Microwave Remote Sensing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Eminent scientists who were recipients of the Golden Florin award in the past were:\u00a0 Erwin Schanda, Dick Moore, Gianni d\u2019 Auria (in memoriam), Tom Schmugge, Anatolij Shutko, Martti Hallikainen, Leung Tsang, Cal Swift, Ed Westwater, David Le Vine, Tom Jackson, and Philip Rosenkranz.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the 2020 Golden Florin Award will be announced during the meeting on Thursday 19 at 16.45.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grss-ieee.org\/awards\/golden-florin-award\/\">www.grss-ieee.org\/awards\/golden-florin-award\/<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cetem.org\">www.cetem.org<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Golden Florin AWARD 2020 Sponsored by the Center for Microwave Remote Sensing (CeTeM) jointly with the IEEE GRSS The Golden Florin (Fiorino Oro) Award is Sponsored by the Center for Microwave Remote Sensing (CeTeM) jointly with the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS).
